ST. CLAIR COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -
After being stranded near I-20 with his yacht for nearly a month, a Missouri man headed home Wednesday.
After weeks of failed attempts to bring the boat home, George Morris was very happy to be moving again. However, some locals who spoke with FOX6 News said they could miss passing by the yacht.
"It was definitley different but now it's normal. Now it's going to be weird when it's gone and we're gonna miss it," Heather Keller said.
She's one of many who have come out to talk with George, sign his boat or have their picture taken at the site. Besides some company, George says complete strangers have offered him food and a place to do laundry and get a hot shower.
And without even intending to, George boosted business a little bit during his stay. While he was waiting for a new trailer, he hired people to fix up the boat, including a professional cleaner and a crew to give the boat a new coat of paint.
