BOAZ, AL (WAFF) -
Boaz Police arrested a Gadsden man after they said he tried to spread an infectious disease by spitting in an officer's face.
Officers arrested 47-year-old Jeffery Lynn Fair for disorderly conduct and aggravated assault on a police officer, Thursday.
According to police, Fair spit several times in an officer's face and lunged at several officers. He reportedly told police he had an infectious disease before he spit in the officer's face.
Police obtained a warrant on the suspect to confirm any infectious disease readings. He was booked into the Marshall County jail on $15,000 bond.
The officer was sent for medical assistance and will have to have follow ups over the next year, but is back at work.
