Justin Smith and Fred Rich both scored 14 points to lead Tanner to a 61-45 victory over LaFayette on Friday for the Rattlers' second Class 2A boys title in three years.

Rich had eight rebounds while Smith, the tournament MVP, added four steals and three assists for Tanner (30-4).

Jonathan Fletcher had 11 points. Raquazious Boyd led LaFayette (21-12) with 22 points and eight rebounds.

Tanner took a 30-18 lead into halftime after LaFayette made just 6 of 24 shots (25 percent).

LaFayette cut the lead to eight points twice in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter, with JaQuauntiez Whitlow's jumper making it 46-38 with 5:50 remaining.

Rich responded with a jump shot and two free throws to push the lead back into double digits for good.
