KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Two police officers were injured early Monday afternoon after they were involved in a traffic accident.

The accident which involved two vehicles happened shortly after noon in the 9200 block of Blue Ridge Boulevard near Eastern Avenue in the southeast part of the city.

Authorities said the officer's car was blocking a lane on Blue Ridge Boulevard for a shooting homicide investigation earlier Monday morning.

Police said the SUV failed to see the stopped car and rear ended it.

Neither of the injuries were life-threatening. It appears both officers suffered neck injuries. Both officers and the driver of the SUV were taken to area hospitals.
