HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
Huntsville Police are conducting a death investigation after a dead body was found in West Huntsville.
The body was found inside of a mini van in the parking lot of Salvation Army on Seminole Drive.
The Salvation Army shelter turned away a man Sunday night because he was obviously drunk. According to a Salvation Army spokesperson, shelter residents must pass a breathalyzer test each evening before entering the facility for shelter. Anyone who appears to be under the influence or is combative are not allowed on the property until they are sober.
He apparently jumped over a fence later in the evening and climbed into a Salvation Army vehicle.
Sometime in the night, there was a fire in the van. Investigators said they aren't sure if the man died from the fire or other causes.
The vehicle damaged by the fire is used to provide Meals on Wheels.
