'Myrtle Manor' sign featured on reality show stolen in the night

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – The "Myrtle Manor Trailer Park" sign featured on TLC's "Welcome to Myrtle Manor" reality show was stolen from Patrick's Mobile Home Park, according to a police report.

Owner of Myrtle Manor and a cast member on the show, Cecil Patrick told police he last saw the sign around 10 p.m. Tuesday evening and noticed it missing at 4 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Patrick guessed the suspect cut the chains around it to remove the sign. He was unable to advise who may have taken the sign that he stated cost $380.

Patrick said he is offering a $500 reward for the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for stealing the sign.

"I hate a thief. I understand why it was stolen and its got to be for souvenirs, but that was my sign, I paid for it," Patrick said.

Patrick said he hopes people don't cast a negative opinion on the show as a result of the burglary, or as a result of the show in general.

"Some people that aren't excited don't understand and don't want to understand. The whole thing that really bothers me is the language some people put on the Internet. That's uncalled for. We don't have to talk like that and my family doesn't talk like that," Patrick said.

The second episode of "Welcome to Myrtle Manor" will air on TLC at 10 p.m. Our viewers had mixed reactions to the show when it premiered on Sunday, March 3.
