CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -
An East Tech High School student walked right into school with an unloaded gun in his backpack.
"It's scary. I don't know what the persons intention is and a lot of these kids go thru things," said parent Tyesha Harris.
A metal detector and a security guard paying attention caught the student with the weapon.
"At East Tech we need more protection like more guards at the door and stuff like that. We just need more officers to run in the school cause its crazy something like that could get caught in the building," said student Sabrina Williams.
You saw 19 Action News Investigative Reporter Scott Taylor tweet just before 1:30 PM that a source tipped him off to the student and the gun. Cleveland Metropolitan School District Officials quickly confirmed it and said this time the Districts security measures worked.
"People just stop being stupid. Worry about school and focus on school instead of trying to kill each other," added student Darnell Pickett.
The student was questioned by School Security and the building was never in lock down mode.
