CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -
Cleveland City Hall confirms Councilman Zack Reed did get some special treatment in jail last week when he was arrested for drunk driving.
Last Tuesday morning, Reed was arrested for drunk driving for the third time.
Arresting officers complained that Reed was allowed special privileges in the city jail.
The city says a preliminary investigation shows a jail supervisor allowed Reed into an office to use a city phone and Reed was also allowed to use his own personal cell phone while in jail.
The city is now going through an administrative review process determining what discipline the jail supervisor may face.
Reed is facing four charges, with the most serious being drunk driving. The other charges are minor traffic offenses. Reed pleaded not guilty to all the charges against him.
Reed has no plans on resigning and says he has important work to do in his ward. He refuses to discuss specifics about the night he was arrested.
