WALLINGFORD, CT (WFSB) -

Like a scene straight out of an action movie, a car involved in a crash in Wallingford somehow went airborne, landed on a second car and both vehicles burst into flames, police said.

Wallingford police and firefighters responded to reports of the early morning crash, and when they arrived at the scene, they were met with an unusual sight.

Officials said they were investigating how the first vehicle got airborne near the intersection of Main Street and Old Colony Road in the first place.

The situation could have been a lot worse, though, because the entire incident occurred near a gas station.

Fire crews were able to quickly knock down the flames, and the driver of the vehicle that went airborne was brought to a local hospital to be treated for injuries.

The identity of the driver or the extent of injuries is unknown.

The crash is under investigation.
