One dead in late night car crash, 3 others injured

ROBERT, LA (WAFB) -

State Troopers say a late night crash has claimed the life of a Hammond resident and injured three others.  The crash happened around midnight on I-12 just west of LA 445 in Tangipahoa Parish.

Investigators say Sandra Thomas, 55, was driving west on I-12 when her vehicle drifted off the road and struck two trees.  She and the front seat passenger Bernard Melton, 67, were wearing seatbelts and only received minor injuries in the crash. The rear left seat passenger, Linda Willis, 60, was also wearing a seatbelt and suffered moderate injuries.  Henry Conley, 74, the rear right seat passenger was not wearing a seatbelt and was partially ejected from the vehicle.  He succumbed to injuries he sustained in the crash.

Impairment or speed is not believed to be a factor in this accident. The crash remains under investigation.
