BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

UPDATE (8:15 PM): The Traffic Management Center reports all delays on I-10 West between Baton Rouge and Grosse Tete have cleared.

UPDATE (6:50 PM): Expect heavy delays on I-10 West between LA-1 (Port Allen) and mile post 147 (before Grosse Tete) due to an accident. LSP Troop A says the accident is on the shoulder, but lanes may intermittently close for vehicle removal.

UPDATE (5:50 PM): Traffic is now flowing normally in all directions of I-10 and I-12.

Traffic remains heavily congested on I-10 West in Baton Rouge. Delays currently stretch from Essen Lane to the top of the Mississippi River Bridge.

Around Noon Sunday a stalled vehicle blocked one westbound lane of the bridge, triggering the congestion. The vehicle was moved, but the traffic never recovered.

Alternate routes to avoid the congested section of I-10 West include Perkins Rd., Highland Rd., or Burbank Dr. Government St. is also a viable option to get to Downtown Baton Rouge.
