PHOENIX (CBS5/AP) -

A 15-year-old girl accused of fatally shooting another teenager in Phoenix is being charged as an adult in the case.

The Maricopa County Attorney's Office made the announcement Thursday, March 21.

Authorities said she faces second-degree murder and first-degree burglary charges.

The victim is identified as 17-year-old Raymond Berryman. The victim's friend pulled the trigger, thinking the gun wasn't loaded, according to Phoenix police Spokesman Sgt. Trent Crump.

After the shooting, several teenage girls started screaming and beating on neighbors' doors for help in the 2600 block of South 84th Glen, police said.

One of those neighbors rushed to help the victim. He performed CPR for 15 minutes before paramedics arrived.

Berryman, a 15-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy burglarized a neighbor's home, Crump said. Among the stolen items were several weapons.

When they got back home, the 16-year-old girl allegedly pulled out one of the handguns and, thinking she had cleared the chamber, pointed the gun at Berryman and pulled the trigger, Crump said.

Minutes after the victim was rushed to the hospital, police detained the boy and girl.

The girl broke the door of a police car trying to get out, police said.

"As you can see, even by detaining some of these folks, we're having trouble getting their cooperation," Crump said.

The 15-year-old suspect is being detained on homicide and burglary charges. The 16-year-old boy will be charged with the burglary, Crump said. On Thursday, April 4 the 15-year-old suspect plead not guilty at the arraignment and will be back in court on May 21.

Berryman, a junior at Tolleson High School, had been in ROTC since his sophomore year and wanted to be a rapper.

One neighbor who didn't want to be identified told CBS 5 this isn't the first time there's been trouble at the home.

Last summer, she said she called police after she saw someone pull out what looked like gun during an argument.

"I do know that we had officers who went in this home to clear the home and saw weapons in plain view," Crump said.
