CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

Cincinnati Public School (CPS) students are now able to get a jump-start on their college education.

Cincinnati State President O'dell M. Owens and CPS Superintendent Mary Ronan signed a district-wide dual enrollment agreement on Tuesday.

The agreement will allow CPS students to take certain courses offered at their high school, and receive both high school and college credit. Officials say the new partnership is designed to increase college readiness and access for students in the Cincinnati Public School system.

Cincinnati State previously had dual enrollment agreements with two individual CPS high schools, Western Hills University High School and Withrow University High School. However, the new partnership will be offered in all 15 CPS high schools.

Cincinnati State and CPS officials plan to develop a process to determine that students who sign up for dual credit are ready for college-level work.

The dual enrollment opportunity will come at no cost for CPS students.
