BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

College tuition may soon be going up again for students in Louisiana to help fill budget gaps.

Higher education's top official said the state's investment in public colleges is at the lowest level in more than 50 years.

Officials said schools need the ability to charge higher tuition and fee rates for higher-cost programs.

The issue will be discussed during the legislative session, which begins April 8.
