BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

A man is behind bars after authorities said he led them on a high speed chase across four parishes Thursday morning.

Louisiana State Police said the chase started in St. Martin Parish near Breaux Bridge just after 6 a.m. and ended in East Baton Rouge Parish. Troopers said the suspect, now identified as 26-year-old Anthony J. Pickney Jr., reached speeds over 100 mph.

They said he was driving a BMW that was stolen in St. Martin Parish.

He jumped out of the car near a neighborhood off Goodwood Boulevard in Baton Rouge and was captured a short time later with the assistance of the Baton Rouge Police K-9 unit and Air Support unit.

He was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on charges of reckless operation, aggravated flight from an officer and resisting arrest, and misrepresentation during booking.

He will later be transferred to the St. Martin Parish Jail, where he will be booked on unauthorized use of a moveable, aggravated flight, reckless operation, switched license plate, driving under suspension and no seatbelt.
