BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Prosecutors said they are getting close to wrapping up their case against Dominique Smith, the man accused of brutally murdering a mother and child and injuring another child at a park.

The prosecution expects to rest sometime Friday.

Defense attorney Darryl Gold said he won't waste any time getting to Smith's side of the case, but he's still undecided whether Dominique Smith himself will testify.

Gold also said they will present their side of the case after the prosecution calls their last witness. The prosecution's last witness is expected to be the East Baton Rouge Coroner's Office. They're expected to speak about the cause of death for the victims.

This week, prosecutors presented emotional testimony from witnesses, including the victim's young daughter and the BREC park maintenance man who found the victims with their throats sliced back in 2010.
