PHOENIX (CBS5/AP) -

A woman who fled the scene of a hit-and-run crash that left a naked woman dead was sentenced Friday to 10 days in jail and three years of probation.

Aimee Butel pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an injury collision and a misdemeanor count of DUI.

The naked woman died March 23 after being hit by Butel's car in the middle of Thomas Road in Phoenix.

Butel, who police said was behind the wheel, fled the scene but was soon caught and arrested.

Phoenix police spokesman Lt. Steve Roser said the 37-year-old woman was lying in the roadway near 34th Street and Thomas Road when officers arrived on scene around 12:15 a.m.

Witnesses told police the woman began taking off her clothes and then ran into the street where she was struck by a small blue car that continued driving eastbound, said Roser.

Roser said she was taken to Maricopa County Hospital where she died shortly after she arrived.

Shortly after the investigation began, police officers found the blue car reported to be involved nearby at 37th Street and Verde and Butel was arrested.
