Body of missing woman recovered from Wilmington pond

WILMINGTON, OH (FOX19) -

Wilmington Police have recovered the body of Casey Pitzer early Sunday morning.

Police say that with the help of Wilmington Fire Department they were able to recover Casey's body from the lake on the southeast corner of State Route 73 East and U.S. 22 and 3 around 5:30 a.m. Sunday.

The family has been notified.

Casey's remains were located on the eastern side of the lake next to one of the ledged that police were told could pose a problem for sonar. Her body has been transported to the Miami Valley Crime Lab for autopsy.

The search for Pitzer began early Sunday after she began walking alone toward her home in Sabina (Suh-BYE'-nuh) following a night with friends at a bar.

The Wilmington News Journal has reported that shortly after getting a ride with two men, Pitzer got out and ran across four lanes of traffic on Ohio 73.
