CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

Opening Day preparations at Great American Ball Park are usually a good indicator of spring.  But, with gray skies and winter weather, mother nature begs to differ.

Winter weather advisories have been issued for the Tri-State during the first official week of spring.

"It's crazy, I mean it's just crazy.  The whole world has gone nuts.  The weather god is frowning on us," said Susan Niland of Cincinnati.

People visiting area home improvement stores this time of year should be walking out with flowers and gardening equipment, not things to keep them warm during what is hopefully the last blast of winter.

"I'm out here at Lowe's hunting down wood pellets for my pellet stove so I can stay warm because this cold weather hasn't broke yet.  We're in spring and it's snowing," said Joseph Kirk of Amelia.

It's what might be a sign of people stocking up on supplies as it took four stops for one man to find what he needed to help keep his house warm.

"I got a 7-year old daughter I gotta keep warm.  I'm out in the cold all day, all week working.  But, I gotta keep her warm," added Kirk.

For some, it's been a long time since winter was this long, at least if you're measuring it by the birthday of one of your children.

"When I called him, I told him that in all of his 36 years of birth, yesterday was his birthday, that I've never experienced any weather like this on the 23rd of March," added Niland.
