DEVELOPING: Phenix City man dies from multiple gunshot wounds

PHENIX CITY, AL -

Russell County Coroner Authur Sumbry Jr. has confirmed a Phenix City man was found dead at his home early Tuesday morning.

John DeWayne Jones, 38, was pronounced dead at 12:55 a.m. on 7th Street in Phenix City.

Jones had "multiple gunshot wounds," Sunbry said. He would not elaborate where on the body Jones was shot.

Captain Frank Ivey with the Phenix City Police Department says they are investigating the case as a homicide. There were no other victims reported.

Jones' body is currently in Montgomery for an autopsy.
