Convicted Troy rapist sentenced to 85 years in prison

TROY, AL (WSFA) - The Troy man convicted of raping two women in the Hunter's Mountain Mobile Home Park was sentenced to prison time this morning in Pike County.

Andre Lamon Ellis was sentenced to 85 years in prison for each of two first degree rape convictions. Ellis was also sentenced to 25 years for a second degree burglary charge.

Ellis was convicted back on January 18. His sentences are to be served concurrently.

District Attorney Anderson applauded the sentence handed down by the Court, stating that the strong sentence "gives these victims a sense of justice and further serves as a message to would-be offenders that this will not be tolerated in Pike County.  Anyone who perpetrates such a crime in the Twelfth Circuit is going to spend many years behind bars."

Ellis' attorney is expected to appeal the sentence.
