BATAVIA, OH (FOX19) -

A mother was indicted after her 14-month-old son suffered a severe head injury inside her home.

Authorities say Victoria Gans, 19, brought her son Noah Philhower to the emergency room at Cincinnati Children's Hospital on March 27. Medical staff contacted investigators when Noah's injuries were inconsistent with her explanation of what happened.

As a result, the Clermont County Sheriff's Office met with Gans at the hospital. According to authorities, 14-month-old Noah was injured at her home on University Lane in Batavia while in the care of Alexis Sexton, 19.

Investigators determined it happened sometime on March 26, one day prior to Gans taking her son to the emergency room for treatment.

Sheriffs say Gans denied both being at her home when the child was harmed and knowing who caused the injuries. She reportedly told investigators she left her home for approximately four hours, leaving her son in the care of 'two adult associates'.

Gans was arrested and charged on March 27 with one count of child endangering, a 3rd degree felony.

On Wednesday, she was indicted by a Clermont County Grand Jury.
