ICE investigating drop house in Phoenix

FILE FILE
PHOENIX (CBS5) -

Federal officials executed a search warrant Tuesday morning at a Phoenix home for suspected human smuggling and found a drop house.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokeswoman Amber Cargile said the drop house operation was in the 3800 block of Camelback Road.

Cargile said once ICE finishes the investigation at the scene, they'll have more details on the number of illegal immigrants.

No other details were immediately provided.

The drop houses are usually rented properties where human smugglers hide undocumented immigrants while awaiting payments, according to DPS.
