Granby man arrested and arraigned on child pornography charges

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

The Attorney General Martha Coakley's Office announced David Linnehan, 37, has been arrested and arraigned in Eastern Hampshire District Court for allegedly possessing images of child pornography.

Linnehan is charged on two counts of Possession of Child Pornography.

Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Attorney General's Office, with assistance from the Granby Police Department, arrested Linnehan Monday night at his residence in Granby.

He was arraigned this morning in Eastern Hampshire District Court where he entered a plea of not guilty and his bail was set at $25,000 under the conditions that he surrender his passport, not leave the state of Massachusetts, be monitored via GPS, have no access to the Internet, have no contact with any child under the age of 18, and stay away from parks, day cares and schools.

Judge Robert Pellegrini presided over today's arraignment. Linnehan is due back in Eastern Hampshire District Court on May 6 for a pre-trial conference.

In March, Massachusetts State Police assigned to the AG's Office obtained information from federal authorities about an e-mail account linked to a residence in the Granby area that they believed possessed child pornography images.

Massachusetts State Police assigned to the AG's Office obtained a search warrant for that residence. Investigators discovered that Linnehan allegedly possessed images of child pornography.

Authorities executed the search warrant last night, after which Linnehan was placed under arrest.

Police continue to investigate this matter.  Assistant Attorney General Timothy Wyse of Attorney General Coakley's Cyber Crime Division will be prosecuting this case.
