HAMPDEN, MA (WSHM) -

CBS 3 has new details on a fire that destroyed a near-million dollar home Friday night.

The 6,000-square-foot house that was demolished on Somers Road was recently purchased by Craig Morel.

Our media partner Mass Live and The Republican reported that Morel, the owner of CJ's Towing, recently purchased the house for $850,000.

Morel confirmed that he has been told the fire appeared to be linked to the furnace.

There were no hydrants in the area, so firefighters had to use tanker trucks to bring water to the site.

Five other towns assisted Hampden in fighting the blaze.

According to listing websites, the house sat on 57 acres of land.
