Springfield police looking for vehicle involved in hit-and-run

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

Police are asking for the public's help in locating a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run crash overnight.

19-year-old Jonthony Maldonado of Springfield was struck. He is currently in critical condition at Baystate Medical Center.

The crash happened near the intersection of Sumner Avenue and Longhill Street.

Police responded just after 4 a.m. Saturday and told CBS 3 that they discovered Maldonado lying in the road.

They also saw front end broken auto parts lying next to the victim.

Police said they are looking for a 2012 or 2013 Buick Verano, possibly dark in color.

They say the vehicle will have front-end damage and missing parts from the front grill.

There may also be traces of blood and windshield damage.
