BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

The Governor's Office is offering a $5,000 reward leading to an arrest and conviction in a 2012 murder case.

David DeRoncey, 28, was found shot to death inside of his vehicle along I-65 Nov. 25, 2012. His wife, Ashley, was the one who discovered his body.

Ashely told authorities DeRoncey called her, saying that two men started arguing with him at a gas station on Green Springs and Oxmoor roads. When he didn't answer her subsequent phone calls, she went looking for him.

Police said last year that they believe DeRoncey was shot on the freeway. His Chevy Blazer came to rest against the concrete median near University Boulevard.

Crime Stoppers is also offering an additional $1,000 reward in the case. If you have information in this case, you are urged to call Birmingham Police.
