AUBURN, Ala. (AP) - David Shamp is wearing a camouflage-patterned holster on Auburn University's campus this week as part of a protest of school policy on firearms.

The table Shamp sat at on the well-traveled Haley Concourse was covered with empty gun holsters as students walked by, asked questions and picked up information. It was part of Auburn's chapter of Students for Concealed Carry's Empty Holster Protest.

Shamp, a 24-year-old U.S. Army veteran who spent a tour in Iraq, says the empty holster is a symbol of being without defense because of Auburn University policy.

The Opelika-Auburn News reports (http://bit.ly/14WRhm9) that the weeklong protest began Monday.
