Cops: Suspects took donation jars meant for charity

HEBRON, KY (FOX19) -

The Boone County Sheriff's office is looking for a pair of suspects who are accused of taking donation jars meant for the Children's Miracle Network.

It happened on March 17 at about 10:41 a.m. and again at 11:32 a.m. at the Speedway station on Northbend Road in Hebron.

Surveillance stills show one of the men, dressed in what appears to be a dark green hoodie, a black tee, and short hair distract the clerk while his accomplice, dressed in what appears to be a plaid, flannel over shirt or coat, beard, and ball cap, remove the jar from the counter and slide it up under the flannel shirt.

Both men left, and the man in the hoodie walked behind the other as to conceal any bulge.  Since it worked the first time, they came back again and took the other jar.

Store personnel recognized both men as regulars on second shift but haven't been able to identify them or their vehicle to date.

Investigators are asking for anyone who might recognize these two to call the Boone County Sheriff's Office at (859) 334-2175 or Crime Stoppers at (513) 352-3040.
