HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

United States Sen. Richard Blumenthal and Sen. Chris Murphy will head to the University of Hartford Friday to talk about gun control.

On Thursday the United States Senate approved a measure to bring gun control to the floor for a debate.

The bill includes expanding background checks.

The Senate is expected to vote on that part of the bill next week.
