MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

The Montgomery Police Department says it is investigating the city's 19th homicide of 2013 after a 30-year-old man died from wounds he received in an April 5 shooting.

The victim, unidentified, was pronounced dead on April 12 at Baptist Medical Center South, where he had been receiving treatment since the shooting incident.

MPD and Fire Medics responded to the 1000 block of the Eastern Boulevard at about 9:30 p.m. last week after receiving a report of a subject shot.

At the scene, they located an adult male, who had sustained a gunshot wound and was transported to Baptist Medical Center South.

MPD's initial investigation indicates the shooting stemmed from a robbery attempt involving drugs.

No arrests have been made at this time and no additional information was available for release from the police department.

Police ask individuals with knowledge of this homicide to call CrimeStoppers at 215-STOP, Secret Witness at 262-4000, or the Montgomery Police Department at 625-2831.
