FLORENCE, KY (FOX19) -
The City Coordinator for Florence has been arrested for an OVI in a city vehicle.
Richard Lunnemann, 48, was arrested on Friday, April 11 and released the next day on bond.
Lunnemann was pulled over by a Boone County Sheriff's Deputy on Ky. 18 and McGrath Road for having no tail lights. The deputy observed slurred speech and an odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle. Lunnemann admitted that he drank two beers at his brother's house, and later stated that he actually at four beers. He failed three sobriety tests.
Florence Mayor Diane Whalen said in a statement that the incident occurred after business hours and was not related to his city duties.
"We will thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate incident and take any action deemed appropriate," said Whalen. "Pending the final determination of the court case, Mr. Lunnemann will not be permitted to operate any city owned vehicle. Any further disciplinary action on the part of the city will not occur until the final court hearing has been held."
