SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

Because of the rain that fell across Mid-Michigan last week, a number of area roadways and bridges remain closed.

According to the Saginaw County Road Commission, the following roads in the county have been closed due to high water:

M-13 or East Road is closed at the Cass River. Traffic is re-routed onto Sheridan Avenue in that area.

In Bay County, WNEM has received reports that Russell Road is closed between Bowker Road and the Tuscola County Line due to water over the road.

In Huron County, seven bridges that were closed last week because of flooding concerns have been reopened. Those bridges are the bridge at Stein Road over the Pigeon River between Gagetown and Notter roads in Winsor Township; Eby Road over the Pinnebog River between Elkton and Pigeon roads in Oliver Township; and Hartsell Road over the Pigeon River between Sebewaing and Canboro roads. The bridge at Moeller Road over the New River between Iseler and New River roads and Walker Road over the New River between Kinch and New River roads in Huron Township; in Brookfield and Grant townships, Gagetown Road over the Pigeon River between Kilmanagh and Canboro roads; and McMillan Road in Meade Township over the east branch of the Pinnebog River between Campbell and Crown roads.

16 bridges have also been closed in Bay County. Those bridges include:

  • 716 (Nine Mile Road and Parrish Road)
  • 684 (Doud Road between 8 and 9 Mile Roads)
  • 730 (8 Mile Road near River Road)
  • 715 (11 Mile Road at Beaver Road)
  • 679 (11 Mile Road near Townline)
  • 697 (Garfield Road near Beaver Road)
  • 682 (Beaver Road near Garfield Road)
  • 717 (Townline Road near 9 Mile Road)
  • 746 (8 Mile Road near Ott Road)
  • 674 (Fraser Road near North Union Road)
  • 728 Fraser Road near Cottage Grove Road)
  • 727 (Fraser Road near Wetter Road)
  • 683 (Beaver Road near 4 Mile Road)
  • 677 (Chip Road near Monitor Road)
  • 678 (Chip Road near Monitor Road)
  • 710 (M-13 near Monitor Road)
  • 719 (M-84 near Hotchkiss Road)

Also a concern because of the flooding are pot holes. WNEM has received word of many roads in the area with gaping potholes that are making travel treacherous. In Bay County, Beaver Road has many potholes from M-13 to the I-75 overpass. Also, 8 Mile Road has many potholes in a stretch between Seidlers and Parish Roads.
