SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

Strong to Severe Storms have already pushed through parts of Mid-Michigan, mainly producing gusty winds and heavy rain.

Showers and thunderstorms are expected to continue into the late night hours of Friday.

Areal Flood Warnings have been posted for Bay, Huron, Midland, Saginaw and Tuscola counties until 10 a.m. Friday. Mecosta County is under an Areal Flood Warning until 7:30 p.m. Friday. Gratiot County is under the Areal Flood Warning until 5:30 p.m. Friday. Montcalm County is under the Area Flood Warning until 5 p.m. Friday.

Flood Warnings have been issued for Arenac County until 9 a.m. Monday. Isabella County remains under a Flood Warning until 11:25 p.m. Friday. Shiawassee County is under the Flood Warning until 8 p.m. Monday.

A number of counties in the area are under a Wind Advisory as well. Sanilac, Lapeer and Genesee counties are under that advisory until 10 p.m. Friday.

Gladwin, Clare, Iosco, Ogemaw and Roscommon counties are under a Wind Advisory until 8 p.m. Friday.

The biggest threat at this point will be heavy rain that will add to the already high flood waters, and small hail will also be possible within thunderstorms.

The National Weather Service did cancel a tornado watch for a number of counties in the TV5 viewing area on Thursday. Many counties in Mid-Michigan remain under flood warnings and watches until the weekend.

The Saginaw County Emergency Management Center held a meeting notifying all of their workers that they expect the Tittabawassee, Saginaw and Cass rivers to crest well above flood stage Saturday morning at 10 a.m.

They are bringing in teams early Saturday to help deal with any flooding as a result of those rivers cresting. They believe one of the hardest hits areas will be the 2100 block of River Road.

The city of Alma has declared a state of emergency because of flooding. The Pine River, which runs through the town, is getting dangerously close to cresting. No word yet on whether that declaration was made official. Residents are encouraged to use as little water as possible until the flood waters recede.

Midland continues to prepare for flooding as Midland schools along with Northwood University are closed as the Tittabawassee River is rising.

All this flooding has the Mid-Michigan Medical Center in Midland and other care facilities taking precautions to keep the water out. Officials with the hospital say they could still have to shut down Harlow and Mid-Michigan Drive and parking lots on their campuses.
