BULLHEAD CITY, AZ (CBS5) -

Bullhead City police said they are investigating the death of a 7-month-old boy as a homicide.

The boy was not breathing when officers reached the Bullhead City home about 8 p.m. April 9. The officers and paramedics helped revive him until he was taken to Western Arizona Regional Medical Center and later to Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas, where he was placed on life support with severe bleeding on the brain.

He was taken off life support and died April 14, suffering from a skull fracture. The cause of death was listed as blunt force trauma by assault.

The child's father, Derek James Cromwell, 21, was interviewed and later arrested on an unrelated misdemeanor warrant for assault and disorderly conduct for an incident involving his wife in February.

The boy's 2-year-old sister was placed in the care of Child Protective Services after the incident.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Bullhead City police Detective Mary Garcia at 928-763-1999.
