TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

A motorcyclist was seriously injured in an accident on the Anthony Wayne Trail.

Toledo Police responded to the wreck between Sherwood Avenue and Glendale Avenue around noon on Sunday.

Police spoke to witnesses on the scene, who said the male motorcyclist was driving at a high rate of speed going southbound.

He lost control, crossed the median, and struck a small tree. The impact from the crash snapped the tree from its stump.

The motorcycle was tossed into the northbound lane of the roadway, where the driver was ejected off of his bike.

He continued to roll about another 20 feet, according to police. He was wearing a helmet.

The driver was taken to an area hospital via Lifesquad. Toledo Police told WTOL 11 he suffered a broken leg, but the driver was conscious and speaking to responders before being transported.
