CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

A Carthage man is accused of littering and then assaulting a police officer after refusing to pick up his trash.

According to Hamilton County court documents, Michael Williams, 20, refused to pick up an empty Sunkist bottle he had just dropped at the corner of Vine and Linden Avenue in Elmwood Place.

When the officer approached him, Williams backed away. The officer grabbed his shirt, but Williams resisted, so the officer grabbed his Taser. Williams then swung both fists, hitting the officer six times in the head.

Two bystanders assisted the officer with getting Williams into custody.

Williams is charged with assault on a police officer, resisting arrest and littering. His bond was set at $6,000 during an arraignment on Monday morning.
