MIDDLETOWN, OH (FOX19) -

A Middletown woman is accused of seriously injuring a 5-year-old.

Angela White, 57, was taken into custody after a 5-year-old was reportedly beaten and left in critical condition.

Police say White is the legal guardian of the child. According to investigators, she originally placed the blame on the child's 13-year-old brother.

White was charged with child endangering. The case has been sent to the Butler County Grand Jury.

The 5-year-old victim remains at Cincinnati Children's Hospital in critical condition.
