INDIANAPOLIS (FOX19) -

Authorities say the remains of a missing Fairfield woman Katelyn Markham were sent to Indianapolis for further examination into the exact cause of death.

Markham was last seen by her fiancee, John Carter, the night of August 13, 2011 at her home on Dorshire Drive in Fairfield. When Carter didn't hear from Markham the next day, he reported her missing. Authorities suspected foul play, but after 20 months, no arrests were ever made in the case.

On April 7, Indiana State Police revealed human skeletal remains were discovered off Big Cedar Road, near Cedar Grove, IN. They were found a by residents walking along the creek looking for scrap metal.

Authorities used dental records to positively identify the remains as Markham.

Indiana State Police say a Forensic Anthropologist in Indianapolis will conduct further examinations and testing, but may take up to six weeks before any new details are released.

Authorities say the investigation into the death of Markham is ongoing. Anyone with information regarding her death is urged to call the Indiana State Police at (812) 689-5000, Fairfield Police at (513) 867-6094, or Crime Stoppers at (513) 352-3040.
