WEST SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

State police have arrested a fugitive wanted by the FBI for an armed bank robbery in Alabama.

Troopers stopped Brandon Payne on Route 32 Wednesday night for driving a car with expired registration.

Payne tried to run from troopers when they started to put him under arrest. After running through a nearby CVS, police were able to get to him.

State police said his fingerprints identified him as the man federal agents have been looking for in Alabama.

He'll be arraigned in Springfield District Court Thursday.
