MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - A dream came true for Markell Gregoire at the NFL draft last night.

But he wasn't a top pick.

Gregoire, 13, announced the 15th selection -- Kenny Vaccaro, a safety from the University of Texas-- to his favorite team, the New Orleans Saints. According to the team's official Twitter account, head coach Sean Payton called to thank him.

The Louisiana teen was chosen to announce the pick as a patient at St. Jude. He suffers from osteosarcoma, a form of bone cancer.

This comes as the NFL named St. Jude their "Official Champion of Play" as part of NFL Play 60, the league's youth health and fitness campaign.

As a part of honoring St. Jude, NFL Play 60 pledged support the needs of St. Jude's Child Life program, which helps patients cope with their illness through playing and other activities.

"We are pleased to be working with St. Jude to help give all children the opportunity to play and be active," said Anna Isaacson, NFL Director of Community Affairs. "We are looking forward to celebrating their important work through their presence at this year's Draft."
