Initial DNA testing doesn't match Florence murder suspect

FLORENCE, KY (FOX19) -

DNA found at the scene of a workplace murder in Florence didn't belong to the suspect charged in the case, according to court documents filed on Thursday.

David Dooley, 38, of Burlington, was indicted for murder, kidnapping and tampering with evidence in the May 2012 death of Michelle Mockbee at Thermo Fisher Scientific.

Dooley's attorney, Eric Deters, filed a renewed motion on Thursday to reduce his $1 million bond, following the initial DNA testing results. Deters has maintained his client's innocence throughout the case.

Court documents also revealed the majority of DNA found at the scene belonged to Mockbee.

Authorities say Mockbee's body was found the morning of May 29, after a report of an assault on a female employee. When officers arrived, they found Mockbee, of Ft. Mitchell, deceased.

Dooley was employed as a janitor at Fisher Scientific, while Mockbee worked in the human resources department.

A friend of the Mockbee's family released this statement to FOX19 following Thursday's developments:

Michelle's friends and family remain confident in the prosecution team. There was enough evidence for an indictment, we are all confident that there will be for a conviction as well.  DNA testing is ongoing.  These are only the results of a few items from the first round of DNA testing.   A considerable amount of evidence is still being tested.  Justice for Michelle will prevail.

The Boone County Prosecutor's Office confirmed more DNA tests are planned in the case.
