Nashville Army reservists deploying to Asia

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

About 35 Army reserves from the Nashville area are preparing to head overseas Saturday.

Officials said the soldiers will be deployed to an undisclosed location in southwest Asia. Once they arrive, they will provide air-drop support for the war effort in Afghanistan.

The soldiers left Nashville and headed to Fort Dix, N.J. where they'll continue training before they leaving the U.S.

Nashville Mayor Karl Dean was among those who attended Saturday's deployment ceremony at the Lyell Army Reserve Center on White Bridge Road.
