SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

Police arrested a 24-year-old homeless man early Saturday morning, saying they stopped his attempted armed robbery of a pizza delivery person.

The robbery happened in the area of Avon Place near Maple Street.

CBS 3 media partner Mass Live and The Republican reported that Robert Owens was the man arrested and that he used a valuable antique German pistol.

He fled the scene when a patrol car happened to pull into the area.

A foot chase ensued, but police said Owens was captured approximately 200 yards from where the pursuit began.

Owens will be arraigned in Springfield District Court on Monday.
