PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

After losing nearly 40 pounds, a world famous dog will be going under the knife. Obie the dachshund made headlines last year for his major battle with his weight. At his heaviest, Obie weighed in at 77 pounds.

Now, after slimming down to just 37 pounds, Obie has a lot of excess skin to shed.

He'll be undergoing a skin reduction surgery which will make a big difference in his daily life.

After the surgery, Obie will be freed up for even more exercise to hopefully slim down even more.

To follow Obie's weight loss online, you can search for "The Biggest Loser – Doxie Edition" on Facebook.
