Arrest made in Montgomery's 21st homicide of 2013

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

The Montgomery Police Department says it's made an arrest in the April 19, 2013, death of 19-year-old Darryl Morris.

MPD detectives charged Zendarius White, 19, of Montgomery with one count of capital murder. White was taken into custody on Wednesday, May 1. Following his arrest, White was transported to the Montgomery County Detention Facility, where he is being held without bond.

Montgomery Police and Fire Medics responded to the 4800 block of Windywood Court around 8:30 p.m. that Friday night after receiving a report of a person shot. There they located the victim, Morris, who had sustained a fatal gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene. 

MPD's initial investigation indicates that Morris' death was the result of a robbery attempt. Further investigation identified White, as a suspect.

Family, friends and the community held a vigil in Morris' honor on April 26. He left behind an infant child. Morris' death is Montgomery's 21th homicide of 2013.

No additional information is available for release relative to this ongoing investigation.
