MESA, AZ (CBS5) -

A wind-fueled fire swept through the mobile home of an elderly Mesa couple early Thursday morning.

The fire destroyed the couple's double-wide trailer, a pickup truck, a neighbor's cargo trailer and numerous trees and shrubs, according to Colin Williams of the Rural-Metro Fire Department.

Williams said gusting winds about 6:15 a.m. helped spread the fire quickly through the trailer near Ellsworth Road and Southern Avenue, though crews were able to keep the flames from spreading to adjacent trailers.

Williams said the couple was alerted by smoke detectors and they were able to get out safely, but the couple's three dogs had not been found.

The cause had not been determined.

No other information was immediately available.
