LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The veterinarian who briefs media on the horses leading up to and during the Oaks and Derby has been hospitalized after he was injured at Churchill Downs.

According to Churchill Downs and the Daily Racing Forum, on Thursday Doctor Larry Bramlage fell from the back of a golf cart in the barn area of Churchill Downs and hit his head.

Bramlage was admitted to an area hospital so he could be observed overnight.

Bramlage was at the track serving as the on call veterinarian for NBC Sports' racing coverage.

Officials have not released any information on when he may return to work.
