LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Black Onyx has been scratched from Saturday's 139th running of the Kentucky Derby because of a chip in his left ankle, according to the horse's trainer. Kelly Breen said the injury is not "catastrophic."

Black Onyx won the #1 post position in Wednesday's post position draw. Darren Rogers, Senior Director of Communications and Media Services said stewards have decided that the #1 slot in the starting gate will be left open and that the remaining 19 horses in the Derby field will start from the post positions they drew.
