KANSAS CITY, KS (KCTV) -

A family is in shock after a young mother was killed after she fell out of a party bus and was run over by several vehicles.

The deadly hit-and-run happened just before 10 p.m. Saturday on Interstate 35 by the exit for Southwest Boulevard in Kansas City, KS.

It is not clear how, but a 26-year-old woman fell out of a party bus onto the highway where she was hit and killed.

Kansas Highway Patrol troopers are still searching for two drivers for questioning.

To Jamie N. Frecks, being a mother meant everything.

She babysat for other families, always loved children, and finally, less than two months ago, she had a baby of her own.

"She loved every minute she had with her," a close friend, Heather Pulliam, said.

But her time as a mother was too short.

Frecks was out for a rare night of fun with 15 girlfriends for a bachelorette party when she somehow fell out the emergency door of the party bus they were riding.

"They had hired someone to make sure they got there safe and returned safe. There was no return, and we'll never get her back," Frecks' aunt, Cynthia Matteson, said.

Troopers say three cars hit Frecks and only the second car stopped.

Jeanette Hernandez, of KCK, was a passenger in one of the three cars that struck Frecks.

"Felt like a nightmare," Hernandez said.

She said the incident happened too fast, and they tried to avoid Frecks' body in the interstate, but she just couldn't.

Hernandez said several other cars slowed down after they realized what happened but drove away.

The thought that there were so many people who hit Frecks and didn't stop is horrifying to Hernandez.

"If somebody could come forward for the family, somebody knows they ran her over. It's not fair," Matteson said.

As they wait, Frecks' loved ones will remember her smile, her good heart and her love of art.

Frecks also planned to marry her fiancé next April, and then go back to school, a close friend told KCTV5.

"Her dream was actually to really be an art teacher at an elementary school," Pulliam said.

With those plans now lost, friends and family are promising the one dream Frecks saw realized. Her baby, Emma, will carry on her mother's memory.

"She will know who her mama was. Know all about her mama. How ornery she was, and I pray to the heavens above that she turns out just a little bit like her without having her around," Pulliam said.

According to the crash report, troopers did not identify the company operating the bus, but did say it was driven by a 49-year-old Basehor, KS, woman.

KCTV5 tried calling the company that is believed to have owned the party bus, but they have not returned calls.

Troopers are still investigating how the door opened. They are also asking anyone with information about the two drivers who left to call them or the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS.

Friends of Frecks are holding an event for her family Wednesday in Loose Park. They're collecting donations for her daughter and fiancé.

Items such as formula, diapers, wipes and clothes are being requested for a 3-month-old girl and older.

A fund for the family has also been set-up.

Monetary donations can be sent to:

First Legends Bank and Trust
c/o Jamie Frecks Memorial Fund
10900 Parallel Parkway
Kansas City, KS 66109

The First State Bank and Trust in Tonganoxie and Basehor are also accepting monetary donations.
